MEET ANNA MARSHALL

Anna Marshall is a petite nine-year-old with porcelain features and piercing blue eyes. She appears comfortable and confident in the saddle on Little Britches' fully vetted horse, Chubbs. Anna attends Little Britches every week to participate in the equine riding program, which is offered five times a year to those with disabilities.

The program enhances riders’ lives by building independence and confidence, qualities that don’t come easy to those with special needs. Little Britches has been providing therapeutic and equine-assisted riding since 1979. We serve people from thirty-two area towns with various disabilities, including attention deficit disorders, Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and anxiety disorders.

Our mission at Little Britches is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities using the movements of the horse. Our programs, with the direction of certified instructors and licensed therapists, improve our riders’ physical strength, facilitate sensory integration, and provide a safe, judgment-free environment where participants can interact, socialize, and fully participate.

But it isn’t easy, and it’s costly. Caring for our seven horses and compensation for certified instructors and therapists is costly. However, Little Britches does its best to manage these costs so that parents already struggling with the financial burden of their child's needs can still access this program. Riders pay approximately 30% of the total cost.

Catherine Furlong, Anna’s mother, explains Anna’s disability.

Won’t you help Little Britches subsidize the remaining cost?

You  can help individuals like Anna continue their quest for confidence and independence in a supportive, encouraging environment. Your help will contribute to the upkeep of our facility, horses, and staff. Just think, a gift of $30 purchases three bags of grain for our horses, $60 takes care of hoof trimming, and $500 takes care of monthly horse boarding fees.

If you like, a monthly contribution of $100 dollars will help keep Anna and her peers soaring! Join us, and together we can ensure that this wonderful program will continue to enhance our rider's lives for years to come.
